Christopher Street West is Proud to present award-winning and internationally-recognized headliners Kelis, En Vogue, Martha Davis & The Motels, and Kelly Rowland on the 2010 LA PRIDE Main Stage June 12 and 13 for the 40th LA PRIDE celebration in West Hollywood, CA.

On Saturday, June 12, following an afternoon of hot DJ’s and local musical acts, Kelis will bring the boys to the yard with her Grammy-nominated, top 5 smash hit, “Milkshake”. Her new album, Flesh Tone, will be released in the U.S. on July 6th. Tipped as one of 2010’s “Best Bets” by Billboard, Kelis was recently joined by guest DJ will.i.am, of Black Eyed Peas fame, on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” in a riveting performance of lead single “Acapella”. Produced by David Guetta, “Acapella,” is already an international # 1 hit, having topped both the Billboard Dance/Club Play Songs Chart and Music Week’s Pop Club Chart in the U.K. Kelis debuted in 1999 and went on to win a BRIT award (International Breakthrough Act), an NME award (Best R&B/Soul Act) and a Q award (Best Music Video for “Caught Out There”).

Later on Saturday night, En Vogue, the original four Funky Divas, bring their chart-smashing hits, “Free Your Mind”, “My Lovin’ – You’re Never Gonna Get It!”, and “Whatta Man” to the celebration. Dawn, Cindy, Terry and Maxine are back and we got ’em! En Vogue’s second album, Funky Divas, was released in the spring of 1992. The album debuted at # 1 on the Billboard R&B chart and ultimately went multi-platinum, won an American Music Award for “Favorite Soul/R&B Album,” and was nominated for five Grammy Awards. The music video for “Free Your Mind” earned the group three MTV Video Music Awards for “Best Choreography,” “Best Dance Video,” and “Best R&B Video.” They were also honored with Soul Train’s prestigious “Entertainer of the Year Award.” En Vogue has sold over 20 million albums and singles worldwide, won seven MTV Video Music Awards, three Soul Train Awards, two American Music Awards, and seven Grammy nominations. Don’t miss this “only at LA PRIDE” perfomance!

Following the 40th anniversary LA PRIDE Parade on Sunday, June 13, a unique gathering of DJ’s and musical artists perform in various dance venues leading up to an early evening show by Los Angeles favorite, Martha Davis & The Motels. Their breakthrough hit, “Only the Lonely,” reached the Billboard Hot 100 and the Billboard Top Tracks chart. Two other singles, “Take the L,” and “Forever Mine,” also made the Billboard Hot 100. This coincided with the emergence of MTV, which led to popular music videos for both “Only the Lonely” and “Take the L.” In 1982, Davis won “Best Performance in a Music Video” for “Only the Lonely” at the American Music Awards. The following year The Motels released the album Little Robbers and its first single, “Suddenly Last Summer,” was a Top 10 hit in the United States, and the album went gold in the U.S., Canada, and several other countries. The Motels have been performing at many fundraisers and events for the LGBT community since the beginning and CSW is honored to have them back for the 40th celebration.

The Sunday night performance by Kelly Rowland is not to be missed. With a world-wide hit, “When Love Takes Over,” with acclaimed French dance producer David Guetta, call this new phase, “When Kelly Takes Over,” as the multi-talented singer/songwriter/TV host and actress exerts full control of a career that has already produced millions of album sales, smash records and accolades. After spending a summer in Europe, Rowland found herself turned on to different sounds and musical genres, especially dance and electro, which has encouraged her latest stylistic direction. “I went out and had great experiences learning about the culture of dance music, how people interact with the DJ,” she says. “It really inspired my sound moving forward.” Kelly launched her post-Destiny’s Child solo career by teaming up with rapper Nelly in 2002, recording the vocals for the track “Dilemma” for his album Nellyville. The song ended up with a Grammy nomination for Record of the Year and earned Rowland an award in the Best Rap/Sung Collaboration category. Kelly has no problem casting an eye toward the future. “I want to put together a great #1 album and tour, just play live, be with the crowd and create more of those magic moments!” The Los Angeles LGBT community looks forward to sharing that magic with Kelly on Sunday night.

In addition, multiple outdoor dance pavilions will sizzle with tunes spun by today’s most popular deejays in the Latin, Country, Rhythm & Soul and Mainstage Dance areas. Stay tuned for a full list at: LAPRIDE.org.
