Cyndi Lauper & Belinda Carlisle to Perform at 2003 LA Pride

WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA – Christopher Street West has lined up two hot shows at the Wells Fargo Main Stage for the 33rd annual Pride Parade and Festival.

The Theme for Pride this year is True Colors, and who better than Cyndi Lauper, direct from New York City, to be the Wells Fargo Main Stage headliner for Saturday night. For an exciting Sunday night closing show to the 2003 festivities, the Wells Fargo Main Stage headliner will be Belinda Carlisle, direct from Europe, in her only United States Pride appearance.

Cyndi Lauper’s reign as one of music’s most versatile performers spans nearly two decades, from paying her dues in the mid-seventies as a vocalist with various cover bands in the New York area to most recently touring with Cher.

Belinda Carlisle, of the 80’s pop sensation the Go-Go’s and many solo albums, is also widely talented, with many number one songs and Grammy nominations.

“CSW is very proud and honored to have these two wonderful headliners for our incredible line-ups for both Saturday and Sunday at the Wells Fargo Main Stage.  It will be a fabulous way to celebrate Pride and our True Colors!!!”, stated Gaye Ann Bruno, vice president of design and entertainment chair.

The Saturday night show, starting at 4 p.m., will include emcee Carlease Burke, Sean Wiggins, Jennifer Corday, Marcella Detroit, Paul Lekakis (Boom Boom and Assume the Position), JoJo (a former member of the Mary Jane Girls) (In My House), Peaches & Herb (Reunited and Shake Your Groove Thing), Shauna Solomon  (You Can’t Get Over), the New Klymaxx Band, featuring Cheryl Cooley (Meeting in the Ladies Room and Men All Pause), and ending with Cyndi Lauper.

There will be two shows on the Wells Fargo Main Stage Sunday. The early afternoon show starting at 2 p.m. will include emcee Carlease; PEP; Ballentine; Vonyse; Lady Bunny (Wigstock), direct from New York City; Wild Orchid  (Talk to Me, Supernatural and Be Mine, Janice Robinson from Livin’ Joy (Dreamer) and Evelyn “Champagne” King (Shame and Love Come Down).

The closing show starting at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday will include Powder, Maxine Nightingale (Get Right Back and Lead Me On), Shannon (Let the Music Play and Give Me Tonight) and ending with Belinda Carlisle.

The Pride Parade begins at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, June 22, on Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood. It will have over 200 entries, representing the varied lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and will be seen live by over 250,000 people lining the streets and over one million cable viewers.

Christopher Street West is a non-profit service organization within the LGBT community, composed of a volunteer board of directors and volunteers committed to the goals of human rights, education, outreach and better understanding within the LGBT community, as well as the non-LGBT community.
