Long Beach gay history milestones | Out in the 562

By  |

As Long Beach Pride wraps up this weekend, it’s important to remember the milestones that LB Pride reached in its 30-year history. Out in the 562 covers today’s story of Aly Mullenix, a junior at Lakewood High School, who says she has been targeted for bullying and harassment because she is a lesbian, along with history going back to 1985, when Pride organizers were told by the city that they needed to come up with $1 million in liability insurance to have the parade. The city appealed the decision, but the California Court of Appeals upheld the lower court ruling!
