Martin L. Gore is Releasing ‘Counterfeit2’

By  |

Martin L. Gore, songwriter for Depeche Mode, will be releasing his second solo album, “Counterfeit2,” April 29th. It will be a collection of all cover-songs just like the 1989 album “Counterfeit.” The first single, “Stardust,” originally performed by David Essex will be released April 14th.

If you don’t know who Martin L. Gore is, he is the blond band member in Depeche Mode who stands behind the keyboard during concerts and takes the lead vocals on several songs. He released his first solo album in between “Music for the Masses” and “Violator,” giving fans a little diversion with a 6-track EP, with songs that had the same dark lyrical content as Depeche Mode. The only problem was that the songs musically were very basic and appeared to still be in demo form. The highlights were “Compulsion” and “Never Turn Your Back on Mother Earth.”

“Counterfeit2” promises to be a full fledge album with 11-tracks that are fully produced. A few of the tracks can be heard on Martin’s official website and they sound sparse with not much of a beat, but I’ll hold back my opinion until I hear the album in its entirety.
