Outfest Film Festival – Online & Drive-In Aug. 20-30

By  |

Update: On Aug. 30, the closing night film in Outdoor Theater 1 is “Two Eyes.” The description: In late 19th century Montana, an artist (Benjamin Rigby, Alien: Covenant) seeking inspiration explores the landscape with his Native American guide (Kiowa Gordon, The Twilight Saga), and finds his conceptions of himself and of the world around him challenged. In 1970s Barstow, California, a questioning youth’s (Uly Schlesinger) mundane existence is given a shot of adrenaline by the arrival of a new exchange student (Jessica Allain) who envelops them within her own lust for life.

In Outdoor Theater 2, the closing film is “Dramarama.” Description: It’s the end of summer, 1994, and theater nerd Gene is preparing for his high school drama friends’ final murder mystery slumber party. The theatrical hostess, Rose, will fly off to start college the next morning, followed by earnest Claire, magnetic Oscar, and sarcastic Ally. Yet Gene has bigger problems than being left behind by his best friends: he wants to come out of the closet – but is terrified of what his sheltered Christian confidants might think. Jonathan Wysocki’s nostalgic, funny debut feature is a poignant love letter to drama nerds, late bloomers, and the intense friendships of youth.
