Warner Strategic Marketing announced today the release of the “Tour 2003 – LIVE CONCERT AND BACKSTAGE DOCUMENTARY” on DVD, September 21, 2004. The DVD features live performances by Ringo Starr and His 8th All Starr Band (Paul Carrack, Colin Hay, Sheila E., Mark Rivera, John Waite), taped at Casinorama in Toronto, Canada, and backstage documentary footage that was shot in Toronto & New York, and at the tour’s end in San Diego — all in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound.

Coming off his critically acclaimed “Ringo Rama” project (released March 2003), Ringo embarked on his 8th All Starr U.S. Tour during the summer of 2003. The New York Times has previously described the All Starr Band experience as: “…the living embodiment of that old fantasy about the great bands that must be jamming in heaven.”

In this wonderfully playful and intimate portrait, filmed live over the summer of 2003, Ringo has drawn back the curtain, giving us an uncensored peek into this legendary performer’s spontaneous, positive spirit, while creating a once in a lifetime backstage pass for the viewer to observe the special moments that exist between Ringo and the band.

With a nod to the former Beatle’s illustrious past, the documentary also provides us with a characteristically charming reflection of who Ringo Starr is in the present tense. The song list includes “With A Little Help From My Friends,” “Boys,” “Honey Don’t” and “I Wanna Be Your Man,” as well as smash hits from his solo career such as “It Don’t Come Easy.” Along with Ringo, the 2003 All Starr Band features the artists John Waite of The Babys and Bad English, singing his hit song “Missing You”; Colin Hay from Men at Work with his solid “Who Can It Be Now” and “Down Under”; Paul Carrack from the bands Ace, Squeeze and Mike and the Mechanics with the hit “How Long”; Sheila E. of Prince and her own band performing “Glamorous Life”; and Mark Rivera, from Billy Joel’s band, who amazingly plays 9 instruments and comes in with strong vocals to boot.

The DVD will delight the tried and true music lover as will the un-scripted, unfiltered glimpse into Ringo, as his wit and wisdom comes through in an infectious display of fun and humor. The documentary reflects the real man behind the music.
