By  |

Sheetmusicplus.com is donating over $5,000 in cash and sheet music to 58 music-oriented non-profits to celebrate its recently completed 1,000,000th order. Representatives from any such organizations are invited to apply for the awards at http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/store/millionorders.html between March 12th and April 15th. All requests will be read and donations with a value of $50 to $1000 will be awarded on April 30th, 2004.

“The Maestro” award will consist of $500 cash and a $500 Sheet Music Plus gift certificate. There will be two “Virtuoso” awards of $250 cash and $250 gift certificate, as well as three “Principal” awards of $100 cash and $100 gift certificate. The company will also have 50 special recognition awards of $50 gift certificates. The winning essays will be shown on the site for 30 days thereafter.

“This is our small way of honoring the music community, which has generously supported us and helped to make us the largest online sheet music store,” said company president, Nicholas Babchuk. “In this era of budget cuts, we know that non-profit organizations need to make their dollars stretch as far as possible. We hope this program will enable music-oriented non-profit organizations to make a little more music this year.”

The recipients will be chosen based on a variety of criteria, including the organization’s mission, the role of music in fulfilling the mission, and IRS 501(c)(3) status. The company hopes to attract a wide range of music-oriented non-profit groups, including educational institutions, arts groups, festivals, symphonies, choruses, charities and churches.
