VEGAS: David Copperfield

By  |

If you ever get the chance to see David Copperfield, do it. He puts on a spectacular show and is considered by most people to be the best magician in the world. He tours constantly and makes frequent stops at the MGM. His shows have wonderful visuals, great music, big magic tricks and comedy peppered throughout. He has great interaction with the audience and includes several of them in some of his tricks.

At the beginning of the show, four men push out a square platform held up by four poles on wheels. A curtain is drawn around the four sides of the platform after the audience sees that nothing is on the platform. The men then push the platform round and round in a circle. At this point, I was thinking that David would appear on the platform. Not only does he appear, but he appears on a motorcycle. How did David and the motorcycle get on the platform? I don’t know, but it was impressive.

The highlight for me was when David selected a member of the audience to join him on stage to be teleported to a tropical island. What was amazing about this trick is that David and the volunteer stood on a small platform that was raised about 10 feet over the audience. He pulled a curtain around them and then the curtain was pulled away and they had vanished. How did he do that over the audience? There was obviously no trap door.

Ticket prices for Copperfield’s shows can be pricey, but it’s worth it to see a world-class magic show.
